20 Weeks

HALFWAY POINT!!

Shocking isn't it? We are now in the 20th week (of 40), and Baby has started to grow exponentially! I will share with you some photos to prove this.

Getting harder to see my toes. . . but they have not disappeared yet!

"Its very first Christmas ornament!"

Ultrasound Pictures!

I had my second ultrasound yesterday, and though the ultrasound technician isn't allowed to tell me anything about the health of baby, it actually LOOKED like a baby this time, which I took as a good sign! So, without further ado, here are a few photos!

This (obviously) is a profile of Little. Hard to believe it is only the size of a mango!

Here is one little foot! How cute is that?! Don't worry, the other one was there too.

This picture is looking Baby right in the face. I think this is Bill's favourite, as it bears a striking resemblance to a Terminator. As amusing as this is, my baby does actually have skin on its face and is not created to be a killer.

Well those are some of my favourite photos. I could go all out and post some legs and strange indiscernible photos of kidneys or something, but I will leave it at that and get back to work! Enjoy!

My fridge is basically ruining my life.

Pretty much.

You know how normal people walk over to their fridge, open it up, get what they want, and close the fridge again? Not in this house. Nope. Our fridge is special. It is like a fridge in a camper, in that the freezer is inside of the fridge. But unlike a camper, it is on 24/7, not just a couple weeks at a time. And by the time our fridge has been running for a month or so, the freezer has gotten so iced up that the ice starts to overflow out of the freezer and into the fridge. Once it hits the fridge, it begins to melt, while making the fridge colder than it needs to be, thus soaking everything (egg cartons are the worst!) as well as freezing it all at the same time (also not great for eggs. Have you ever tried to make cookies with frozen eggs? They don't crack quite as nicely). Anyway, the freezer ice doesn't melt quite quickly enough when it gets into the fridge, because it very quickly expands so much that the door of the fridge can no longer close properly, thus creating this:

This blocks the fridge from opening. So anytime we want to get a glass of milk or a slice of cheese, we have to first move the barricade, get what we want, then shove the barricade firmly back into place and make sure it is doing it's job to keep the fridge shut. It may only take a few seconds longer than a usual trip to the fridge, but it is enough to drive me crazy. Unfortunately the only solution is to empty the fridge of everything, then turn it off and thaw it out. This is a huge task. It entails filling our not quite large enough coolers with everything that MUST ABSOLUTELY be kept cold (basically everything in the fridge. This is a problem in itself, because our freezer is too small to keep more than a couple measly trays of ice in it at a time, which is hardly enough to keep two coolers full of fridge/freezer food cold), then becoming overly frustrated when everything does not fit in the coolers, and trying to find room in the egg fridge Melinda keeps in the garage for everything else. Once this is all finished, the fridge AND freezer must thaw out, which takes approximately one full day, and causes mass amounts of puddles on our kitchen floor (I do keep a towel at the base of the fridge at all times, but it doesn't take long for it to soak up as much water as it can handle). No matter how much I try to control the flooding, everything is still damp by the time the freezer is empty of ice, and it is no easy task drying off the underside of a fridge (also, it gets so dirty under the fridge, and I prefer to pretend it doesn't exist)! Anyway, once the ice is all gone, I feel the need to clean the fridge completely, because it only makes sense to do so when it is empty and thawed out. Then once everything is perfectly spotless, I can turn the fridge back on, transport everything back into it, be satisfied to have a normal fridge, and then do this ALL OVER AGAIN NEXT MONTH.

I refuse to go through all of that on a monthly basis.

So I don't.

Hence the barricade.

Maybe we will get a ton of snow and the power will go out and I can throw all the food onto our porch and let the fridge thaw while we have no power. For now I will just wait until that day and continue to be frustrated with a fridge that will not close.

Baby bump?

Yes, I am definitely starting to get fat.

There is totally a baby in there!!

Can't believe I'm already a third of the way there!

The last four months

I thought life would majorly settle down after the wedding, but, of course, I was wrong. Life rarely ever gives you a break! So I apologize for not posting more frequently, but I will soon begin to be able to post baby belly pictures! I am now 16 weeks and I think only I can tell that there's a baby in there still, but it becomes more apparent daily, so you may start eagerly awaiting the first belly shot. And then May 1, the REAL excitement begins. Yaaaay baby pictures! Though I have an ultrasound in two weeks, so maybe I will post an early baby picture then. Will try to be back with pictures soon!!

Under Ethiopia

I've just been informed that iTunes cards can now be used to purchase apps for the iPhone, as opposed to only music. So the card I got for Christmas that I had previously dubbed useless has now bought me this blogger app, which means I can now entertain you from wherever I may be. At the moment, I happen to be at Starbucks (hence the ol' saying, "Under Ethiopia", though I'm not actually under Ethiopia, I am outside at a different Starbucks entirely)! Sitting out in the sun. . . Finally!!! I thought it would never come!! Time to work on my tan. 11 days until the wedding!!

Guests

We've been getting stacks and stacks of response cards in the mail lately, and it is super exciting! And guess what! EVERYONE wants to come! During all my wedding research online, I've stumbled upon about 87 websites that say you can generally count on about 25-30% of your invited guests not to be able to attend. So far, I have a whopping 4%. I'm thrilled that everyone wants to come, especially since I WANT everyone to come! But I didn't realize that our guest list would grow so much during invitation making. . . I guess that means more presents!! And perhaps more tables. A month and a half!!

Favours

I'm currently in the process of trying to decide on favours (with less than eight week to go! Oh my!) and I can't decide between these three. Opinions anyone?

Update: I'm leaning towards the third one in the three colours on the left. Number one is off the list and number 2 is still a close second. . .

Less Than 100 Days

The countdown has really begun now with only three months to go! And with that, I've decided to throw in a curveball and spring for a caterer. Too late? We'll see. With any luck we'll be doing a taste test with Moonlight Catering within the next two weeks, and hopefully things taste good. Otherwise. . . well, I'd rather not think about that. Burgers, anyone?

I officially own my dress. It is still in the store, but all alterations are finished, everything is paid for, and I simply have to go in and pick it up a few days before the wedding. I couldn't be happier with it. It is probably the one thing I am most excited for! Besides marrying Bill of course, and that whole being a part of another family thing. That should be pretty cool too.

I'm roadtripping it to Burlington on May 1st with the girls - very excited! We'll be picking up all of their bridesmaids dresses, and I'm very happy to finally be seeing them in person. Then, of course, being in Burlington, we'll have to take in a few outlet malls and do some shopping, then have a SLUMBER party! I'm so stoked, it'll be a great time. Just as good as a bachelorette in Vegas, I'm sure. Maybe we can find some cowboy boots as well. That's what I'll be watching for, anyway.

Now I need to either do some studying for Friday's exam, or search the internet for jobs. Who needs real life anyway.

Less than three Martha

The one thing that I am dreading entirely about my wedding day is that once it is over, I will no longer have a reason to purchase my Martha Stewart Wedding magazines. Sadness (insert three million unhappy emoticons). That means that I only have two more issues to look forward to! The greatest thing about Martha Stewart's magazines is that they are filled with DIY projects, which are not only relatively cheap, but she also makes things (quite simply, I might add) that look absolutely phenomenal! Alas, my time with Martha is coming swiftly to an end :(. I shall treasure these next six months (and probably the next few years afterwards as I begin on her post-wedding crafts - hurray for memories that are to come!).
